Welcome to the Penn West Conference!
The Penn West Conference includes 99 local churches of the United Church of Christ. We are a diverse community of creative disciples working together to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ. For more about the history of the United Church of Christ, check the denominational website at www.ucc.org.
Throughout the Penn West Conference website, you will find information about our various ministries and ways that churches and individuals can be involved in the mission and ministry that we share together.
In addition, we are divided into six geographical Associations. Each Association has its own constitution/bylaws, Association gatherings/meetings, governing board, and various committees including a Church and Ministry Committee that addresses issues of authorization for pastors and local churches.
Our Associations cover the following counties:
Clarion Association - Armstrong, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Indiana, Jefferson, McKean, and Warren.
Juniata Association - Bedford, Blair, Fulton, and Huntingdon.
Lake Erie Association - Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, Mercer and Venango.
Pittsburgh Association - Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, and Washington.
Somerset Association - Cambria, Somerset, and Northwest Maryland.
Westmoreland Association - Fayette and Westmoreland.
The Conference Office is located at 312 South Maple Avenue, Suite PWC, Greensburg PA 15601. The entrance is off the parking lot.
The Conference also owns The John Weber Memorial Site, named after the Rev. John Weber, the first Reformed minister to cross the Alleghenies and whose efforts established many Reformed congregations in western PA. Located west of Youngwood, PA, the site includes a chapel and cemetery, large outdoor picnic pavilion with picnic tables, running water, electricity, and restrooms. It is available for use by church and religious groups for a small fee. Contact the Conference Office for more information.
